Puzzlewood

We went to the Forest of Dean for a couple of days and while there, we went to a place called Puzzlewood.

It’s been used in a number of films and television programs and the best way I can describe it is magical.  It was originally an open cast iron ore quarry dating back from the Roman period, that has now been left and reclaimed by nature.  Everything is covered in moss and lichen and really is otherworldly.

Below is a small collection of images from the shoot.

I’d be interested to know what you think.

Viking part 3

This is the final installment of our Viking shoot.

As mentioned in the earlier blog it was very hot and bright.  Jim did a great job for us without complaining about the thick clothing he was wearing on such a warm day.  We’d been so focused on all the equipment needed for this shoot we’d forgot to take any water.  For the last part of the shoot we added smoke for effect and I think it really worked well.

I must say as much as I enjoyed the shoot I was glad to wrap it up and go get something to drink.

This shoot was so different to our usual photographic subjects that we thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to do some thing similar in the future.  If you know anyone that does re-enactments and would like to take part in a photoshoot please get in touch.

Viking part 2

Last time, I told you about a Viking shoot we were doing, with Jim our friendly Viking re-enactor.
After the studio session we went on location to a small pocket park not far away from where I live.  It was a lot brighter than I'd hoped it would be and very warm, but I think we did OK.

Below is a small collection of images from the shoot, more to follow later.

I’d be interested to know what you think.
